Personail nail wraps are by far the easiest way to get gorgeous, long-lasting nail art. However, nobody’s perfect, so we’ve come up with 5 mistakes people can make when applying alongside some tips and tricks so you can get flawless nails every time!
1. Not removing the transparent plastic protection
Such an easy part to forget!
This top layer of the wraps is there purely to prevent damage to the design and to ensure the underside of the nail wrap stays nice and sticky and easy to apply.
However, when left on it is difficult to file your nail so doesn’t ensure that professional finish and will impact the durability of the wrap.
2. Storing out in sunlight
As with most beauty products, we recommend storing the wraps in a cool, dry place. Keeping them out in sunlight may dry out the adhesive so when it comes to application they will be difficult to stick. If you’re being super savvy and keeping hold of your spares, it’s best o pop them back in the original silver pack for extra security!
3. Applying too close to cuticle
Logically, it would seem the further down your nail you apply the wrap, the longer it will last and the more time it will take for regrowth to show.
However, when placed so far down the wrap sits over the cuticle, it is actually more prone to catching and subsequently easier to peel off (trust us - this advice comes from personal experience of getting nails stuck in our own hair when washing it!).
When placed just above the cuticle the nail wraps do not get caught and will keep you looking fresh and glam for up to 3 weeks!
4. Clean nail with nail polish remover before application
Not always a necessity, but some of our lovely customers have particularly smooth and shiny nails! A quick clean with some nail polish remover will help the wrap stick because water doesn’t always get rid of oil residue, so washing your hands may not quite do the trick. Try this quick fix for seamless results.
5. Delay applying your Top Coat
We definitely recommend using a topcoat to seal the deal and make your nail wraps last even longer, but we’ve found it is actually more effective a few hours after application. This gives time for the wrap to adhere to the nail properly - some top coats, when applied immediately, can interfere with the wrap setting to the nail and so have the opposite effect to what you’re trying to achieve!
Also good to note that some fast drying Top Coat may shrink our nail wraps, however our Signature Fast Glass Top Coat works amazing with our nail wraps
It’s as easy as that! If any of you have any advice you’d like to share after your experiences with Personail we’d love to hear it, simply email support@personail.com and let us know your suggestions.
